Q. How much does it cost to join OnlineBidz?

A. It costs nothing to sign up and become a registered OnlineBidz user. However, you will be required to pay an entry fee to place bids in the site auctions.

Q. How old do I have to be to join OnlineBidz?

A. Users have to be 18 years or over to participate in auctions. Winners will have to produce proof of their age as part of the verification process.

Q. How do I register with OnlineBidz?

A.  Users can register by clicking on the “Register” link that appears on the site. Fill in the required information including a VALID email address. A system-generated password will then be emailed to you. Once you receive this password, go to the homepage again, and login to your account. Now click on the “my info” link. You can now change your password to one of your choosing by entering a new password where it says “password”, and enter it again where it says “confirm”. Now click on the “save” button. While in this section, you can now add credits to your Online Bidz account, and use them for bidding on items.

Q. What is my User ID?

A. This is unique identification that you choose when using the OnlineBidz site. This protects your privacy and helps you to easily identify yourself on the OnlineBidz site.

Q. Why do I have to wait for e-mail verification before I can place a bid?

A. E-mail verification is an added layer of security. Verified e-mails establish a link with genuine users of the site. This prevents fraudulent activity by non-genuine bidders.

Q. Is my personal information confidential?

A. Yes. Online Bidz abides by the Data Protection Act and is obliged to keep customer’s data confidential. Online Bidz does not make information available to third parties without the explicit permission of the customer.

Q. What happens if my login fails?

A. If your login fails because you have forgotten your password, you can have it e-mailed to your registered e-mail address. In the unlikely event that you are refused entry or the system fails, please contact Online Bidz.

Q. When I login, the page keeps on resetting itself without login happening. What’s going wrong?

A. Please check that cookies are enabled on your browser. This is a known and recognised problem with certain AOL browsers. If this continues, we suggest that the AOL browser is minimised and that you open the site once again in Internet Explorer, Safari, Firebox or another browser. If this problem persists, please contact the Online Bidz helpdesk.

Q. What can I do if I have a problem with my account?

A. If you encounter any problems with the site, please e-mail our customer support desk: support@Online Bidz.com We aim to respond to customer enquiries within 24 hours.

Highest Unique Bid Auctions

Top

Q. Exactly how do Unique Bid auctions work?

A. Registered users place bids on selected items offered by OnlineBidz through a “sealed bid” process. Bidders pay an administration fee to enter the auction. Their aim is to place the highest unique bid. Every auction is limited to a specified number of bids (e.g. maximum 150) or a time limit. As soon as that limit is reached, the auction automatically closes. After the auction has closed, the winning bidder then purchases the item from OnlineBidz for the highest unique amount they have bid.

Q. Show me an example of how unique bid auctions work?

A. For Example A Unique Bid Auction Might Have The Following Characteristics…

Auction Product: Plasma TV
Maximum Number Of Bids That Will Be Accepted: 150
Entry Fee: $5.00
Regular Retail Price Of TV: $699.00

Assuming that the following bids (in dollars) are received:

Bid 1: 1dollars
Bid 2: 1 dollars
Bid 3: 2 dollars
Bid 4: 2 dollars
Bid 5: 2 dollars
Bid 6: 3 dollars
Bid 7: 4 dollars
Bid 8: 5 dollars
…Then the bidder that placed Bid 8 would win the auction and purchase the widescreen TV for 5 dollars, because it is the highest unique bid that has been placed.

Q. What is a highest unique bid?

A. This is the highest bid amount entered in the auction that has not been placed by more than one person. For example, if bidders X, Y and Z place a bid of 1 dollar, but bidder A places a bid of 2 dollar, although this is not the highest bid in the auction, it is the highest unique bid placed.

Q. What happens if there are no unique bids?

A. If there are no unique bids then the winner is determined by the highest bid where two bids have been placed and the then by whoever bid first. If there is not a bid price with two bids placed then it will be from the highest bid with three bids placed and so on until a winner is found.

Placing a Bid

Top

Q. How can I place a bid in an auction?

A. Easy.

  • Look through the items to find one or more that you are interested in.

  • Click on the “place a bid” icon and enter the amount that you want to bid. (Remember that there is a “maximum bid price” on each item. The software will not allow you to bid over this amount.)

  • Click the “bid now” icon. You will be prompted to enter your email address/username and password. (if you do not already have an account with Online Bidz, you will now be prompted to make one)

  • If you have enough credits in your account, your bid will be processed, and the bid fee for that item will be deducted from your Online Bidz credits.

  • The software will now advise you as to whether or not you are the current highest unique bid.

  • If you are not the current highest unique bid, you have the opportunity to place additional bids. (*There is a maximum number of bids allowed per person per individual item*) The software will not allow you to place more than the maximum allowed bids per item.

  • Please note that the “bid fee” amount listed on each individual item is deducted from your Online Bidz account for EACH bid that you make. Also make sure that you have enough credits in your account to cover the amount of any bids that you make so that if you win, you do not end up losing your item due to a lack of funds.

  • Each item has a “maximum number of bids required”. Once this number has been reached, the auction will automatically finish.

Q. How do I add credits for bidding?

A. Click on the “add credits” icon. You will be re-directed to the Paypal home page. If you already have a paypal account, log in and enter the amount of credits that you would like to put into your Online Bidz account. (Most customers enter $20 or $30 at a time).

If you do not already have a Paypal account, you can either create a Paypal account, and then follow the procedure above, or, if you prefer not to have a Payal account, you can still use the Paypal site to add credits to your Online Bidz account by making a credit card purchase.

Once you have added credits via the Paypal site, click on the link to return to the Online Bidz site. Your credits will automatically be deposited into your Online Bidz account.

Each time you bid, your credits will be deducted for the bidding fee. Please make sure to always have enough credits in your account to cover the full amount of your highest bid so that if you win, you do not end up losing your item due to a lack of funds. Once the auction is over, if you are confirmed to be the highest unique bidder, your account will be deducted the amount of your bid.

Q. Can I place more than one bid?

A. You can place as many bids as you like, unless there is a stated maximum number of bids for each auction. However an entry fee is charged for each bid that is placed.

Q. Can I take part in more than one OnlineBidz auction at the same time?

A. Registered users can take part in as many auctions as they like.

Q. How many bids are there in an auction?

A. This varies from auction to auction. The maximum number of bids that will be accepted for each auction is clearly stated in the auction description pages. From time-to-time Online Bidz may launch time-specific auctions, in which case an auction closing day, date and time will be specified.

Q. How many items are available for each auction?

A. Usually, one item is placed for auction. However, Online Bidz may decide in the future to place multiple items for sale in the same auction.

Q. Can I purchase the products on offer from Online Bidz instead of participating in an auction?

A. No. Items auctioned on the site are strictly up for auction, not for sale.

Q. How do I know if my bid was successfully received?

A. Online Bidz will send you an e-mail verifying that your bid has been successfully entered in the auction.

Q. When does an auction end?

A. An auction automatically ends when the maximum number of bids is reached. However from time-to-time Online Bidz may launch time-specific auctions, in which case an auction closing day, date and time will be specified.

Q. What do the “New”, “Hot” and “Closing” icons next to the auction items mean?

A. A “New” icon means a new or recently opened auction. A”Hot” icon means over 20% of the required bids have been placed. A “Closing” icon means most of the required bids have been placed and the auction is about to end.

Q. What is the Auction ID code?

A. The Auction ID code is a unique number allocated to each successful bid. This enables you to reference the auction in the “ My Account” section, as well as checking to see if you are a winner when the results are published. Your auction ID code will be sent to you in your bid confirmation email.

Top

A. OnlineBidz grant customers a full, no-quibble refund if returned within seven days of receipt of the item (postage is at the customer’s own expense). If a refund is requested, the customer will receive a refund of their final purchase fee only (the winning bid amount that they bid in the auction), not the value of the item or the entry fee. Refunds will be granted on receipt of the returned goods.

Q. What do I do if my product is faulty?

A. After seven days, warranties for any items sold on the OnlineBidz site are transferred to the manufacturer or supplier’s original warranty. In the unlikely event of a fault, customers are to contact the manufacturer direct. OnlineBidz is a third party retailer and does not hold stock or maintain any warranties of any kind. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

Q. Can OnlineBidz repair or replace faulty items?

A. No. OnlineBidz is not a direct retailer. Any fault or damage claims should be taken up with the manufacturer.
